Service Fees


Hanson Medical Centre has been bulk billing its high-quality general practice services since its inception for over a decade now. Medicare rebates aren’t sufficient to cover the increasing costs associated with the provision of high-quality general practice services. In order to ensure the Practice’s sustainability, we have reviewed our billing policy. In doing so we have not forgotten the fact that some of the patients will not be able to afford the fee.

We will therefore continue to bulk bill the following at all times:

  •  Aboriginal and Torres strait Islander Patients
  • Patients under the age of 16 years
  • Patients over the age of 67 years
  • Health Care Card holders
  • Pension card  holders
  • DVA card holders
  • All Childhood immunisation
  •  Vaccinations such as flu, whooping cough, shingles, pneumonia etc
  •  Covid-19 vaccines
  •  Review of results with the same doctor

 It is also important to note that valid Medicare card, concession, DVA cards and identity proof should be presented. We cannot bulk bill if the cards have expired.

  • The active existing patients of Hanson Medical Centre will continue to receive bulk billing services as usual.
  •  However, effective from 30th May 2022 bulk billing services will be available only between 8am and 5.50pm Monday to Friday (Public Holidays not included)
  •  For New Patients and their ongoing care, the new Billing Policy will become effective from 20th of April 2022
  •  Telehealth and Telephone consultations for new patients will not attract Medicare rebate.

Payment is required on the day of consult by EFTPOS (debit card or credit card only). Rebates are available through Medicare online and will be transferred to your registered bank account by Medicare within 24-48 hours.

Rebates are also possible through the tyro system via EFTPOS machine (using your Debit card only) to receive your refund almost instantly.

Cancellation of appointment

Please inform minimum 2 hours prior to your appointment if you are unable to make it.


Non - attendance fee

Patients who miss their appointment without notice as above will be charged a Non-Attendance fee of $33(Including GST) which is not claimable through Medicare. This must be paid in full before your next visit.
